Abstract

The aim of this study is to discuss the establishment and the development of Admiralty in the Islamic State during the orthodox Caliphate and Umayyad Period. It Provides information relating to admirals' activities in the Mediterranean Sea, focusing on the main shipyards, Policy of naval raids and manoeuvers, maritime techniques and warfaring tactics. The study also sheds light on the contribution of the Muslim admirals in the development of maritime activities as well as security of Muslims boundaries over a large part of the Mediterranean Sea.

تهدف هذه الدراسقة إلى التعربف بمدلول إمارة البحر عند العرب المسلمين ومفهومها ومراحل تطورها واختصاصها. كما تتناول أسماء أمراء البحر ونشاطهم في عصر الخلفاء الراشدين والأمويين مع بيان صفاتهم البارزة وسياساتهم في التنظيم والتخطيط العسكري البحري وتسلط الدراسة كذلك الضوء على دور أمراء البحر الكبير في تطوبر القدرات القتالية البحربة عند العرب المسلمين وعلى إسهامهم في توطيد أركان السيادة الأموبة على البحر الأبيض المتوسط .
