dc.description.abstract The present study aims at finding the effect of a self-control training program in the reduction of stress in a sample of secondary stage students . The study answered the two questions: (1) Are there significant differences at the level (a = 0.05) in the stress and its dimensions, among the students who received a program in selfontrol (experimental group) and those who did not receive the program (control group)? (2) Are there significant differences at the level (a = 0.05) in the stress andits dimensions between the post test and preservation test for those who received the program (experimental group)? The sample consisted of (30) tenth grade students from those who suffer from high stress. Their degrees on were an indicator of the level of stress befor applying the training program the pre test. Then they were randomly distributed in two groups: (1) experimental group whose members received a training in self-control for a period of (8) sessions, one session per Week. (2) control group whose members did not receive any training. Then stress was administred on to the groups, and after two weeks from finishing treatment ,the preservation test was choosen for the experimental group. Results showed a significant differences on the level of (a = 0.05) between the experimental and control groups in the level of stress on the instrument and its dimensions in favour of the experimental group, results also showed a relevant statistical difference on the level of (a •== 0.05) in the level of stress by using (T) test pertaining to the third domain (psychological dimension) in favor of the preservation test. There were no significant differences for the rest of the domains (physiological and cognitive) nor for the instrument of the study. en_US
