AbstractSince the invention of direct torque control (DTC) in later 1980s for alternating current (AC) motor drives, it has undergone many modifications to improve the control strategy. This study provides a comprehensive review of recent advancements of DTC of induction motor (IM) for the past one decade. Strategies adopted to improve the performance of DTC based on switching table, constant switching frequency operation, intelligent control, sensorless control and predictive control are extensively discussed with its key results and algorithms.
