Green operator cooperation for radio frequency transmission minimization
الملخص
The increasing demand for reliable mobile services with faster communications speed requires high capital investment in the radio access networks. This leads to enormous energy consumption, high operational costs (OPEX), and also environmental and human concerns due to electromagnetic pollution. Hence, in a multi-operator environment, selecting the most efficient strategy among operators can tackle these issues and reach substantial impacts. To guarantee energy savings and achieve OPEX reductions, inter-operator cooperation seems to be a promising alternative solutions. In this paper, we mainly target next generation cellular networks (specially LTE-A). We propose a new cooperative green algorithm for a possibility to mitigate the total Radio Frequency (RF) transmission by sleeping a number of eNodeBs without degrading specific Quality of Service (QoS) indicators. Thus, we will study the different scenarios for intra- and inter-operator cooperation in order to determine the best solution for minimum RF transmissions with acceptable QoS.

Diamantoulakis, Panagiotis D.; Pappi, Koralia N.; Muhaidat, Sami; Karagiannidis, George K.; Khattab, Tamer ( Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. , 2016 , Conference)In this paper, we investigate joint relay selection and optimal power allocation, as a means to maximize the achievable rate of an underlay cooperative cognitive radio with carrier aggregation, taking into account the ... -
Sparsity-aware narrowband interference mitigation and subcarriers selection in OFDM-based cognitive radio networks
Gouissem, A.; Hamila, R.; Al-Dhahir, N.; Foufou, S. ( Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. , 2016 , Conference)In this paper, the performance of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing overlay cognitive radio network with subcarrier selection schemes is investigated. We propose three subcarrier selection techniques that reduce ... -
Evaluation of FSO link throughput in Qatar
Hussain S.J.; Touati A.; Elamri M.; Touati F.; Uysal M. ( Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. , 2015 , Conference)Despite the vibrant advantages of Free Space Optics (FSO) technology and the variety of its applications, its widespread adoption has been hampered by rather disappointing link reliability for long-range links due to ...
