New voltage regulation techniques for low voltage radial feed PWM inverter based distributed networks
Abstract
Grid voltage rise problems occur, especially at light loads, due to the proliferation of distributed generation. Two techniques are proposed for regulating the voltage in low voltage radial networks when inverter based distributed generation is employed. The first technique, voltage regulated power control regulates the voltage by controlling the active power level delivered by the inverter to be low at light loads and high at heavy loads. The second technique, power tuned voltage regulated control is a modification of the first technique. It enables the inverter to deliver higher power at light loads without affecting the voltage regulation. Simulation and practical results substantiate the viability both techniques.
