    Abstract
Multiphase (more than three-phase) systems have major advantages compared to a conventional three-phase system. A machine with higher number of phases can have high power and torque with less rating of components. Cascaded Multilevel Inverter have better performance compared to other converter topologies particularly for photovoltaic and wind-power generation feeding motor drives. A multilevel inverter with multiphase operation has advantage of both multiphase and multilevel with minimum THD and better efficiency. In this paper, a single DC power sourced from photovoltaic array/fuel cell multiphase multilevel cascaded inverter is proposed. This new topology aims to get high quality multi-phase power and have reduced components and less complex circuits. The transformers are employed to provide isolation in addition to reduced harmonic content and less switching losses. The performance and feasibility of proposed scheme is done using MATLAB/Simulink based simulation.
