Abstract | Recently MULTIPHASE involved attention of many researchers due to applications of multiphase drives in space and naval system. It has a proved superiority over three phase system in terms of generation, transmission and utilization. In general, two methods available for Multiphase power production from a readily available three phase power viz. using semiconductor converters and using special transformers also called passive or static Transformation. Static transformation technique of producing multiphase power has superiority over power electronics based converters for fixed frequency applications, e.g., it is more reliable, more economical, and more efficient and has lesser THD as compared to power electronic converters. However, it is not suitable for variable frequency transformation. The aim of this paper is to analyze multiphase power conversion from three-/two-phase, review the different static multi-phase transformation techniques. Moreover, different methods of two and/or three phase power to seven phase static transformation are also discussed in details. |
