Abstract | In this paper, the problem of the fast fault detection of synchronous generators is addressed. Toward this goal, a multi-objective optimization problem formulation based on the l1/H /H - performance criteria and the regional pole placement constraint is presented and it is solved using linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach to obtain the parameters of the fault detection observer and the optimal amount of the performance indices. The convergence rate of the fault detection observer is improved with the proposed method which leads to fast fault detection in synchronous generators. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by the numerical simulation with a 3 degree Heffron-Phillips model of the synchronous generator. 2019 IEEE. |
