Time frequency and array processing of non-stationary signals
The special issue of EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing 2012 focuses on the synergistic relationship between time-frequency methods and array signal processing methods and addresses recent developments. In the article 'Joint DOD/DOA estimation in MIMO radar exploiting time-frequency signal representations' Yimin Zhang and co-researchers deal with the joint estimation of direction-of-departure (DOD) and direction-of-arrival (DOA) information of maneuvering targets in a bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar system when exploiting spatial time-frequency distribution (STFD). In the article 'Estimating the number of components of a multicomponent nonstationary signal using the short term time-frequency Rnyi entropy,' Victor Sucic and co-researchers propose a solution to the problem of detecting the local number of signal components by resorting to the short-term Rnyi entropy of signals in the time-frequency plane.

Time-frequency signal and image processing of non-stationary signals with application to the classification of newborn EEG abnormalities Boashash, Boualem; Boubchir, Larbi; Azemi, Ghasem ( IEEE , 2011 , Conference Paper)This paper presents an introduction to time-frequency (T-F) methods in signal processing, and a novel approach for EEG abnormalities detection and classification based on a combination of signal related features and image ...
Estimating the number of components of a multicomponent nonstationary signal using the short-term time-frequency Rényi entropy Sucic, Victor; Saulig, Nicoletta; Boashash, Boualem ( Springer , 2011 , Article)The time-frequency Rényi entropy provides a measure of complexity of a nonstationary multicomponent signal in the time-frequency plane. When the complexity of a signal corresponds to the number of its components, then this ...
An automatic time-frequency procedure for interference suppression by exploiting their geometrical features Saulig, Nicoletta; Sucic, Victor; Boashash, Boualem ( IEEE , 2011 , Conference Paper)This paper presents an adaptive method for interference suppression in the Wigner-Ville distribution. The structure of the artifacts in the Wigner-Ville distribution has been analyzed to optimally mask the signal Wigner-Ville ...
