Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. It commonly coexists with other clinical conditions such as dyslipidemia and hypertension. Based on the manifestations a patient is experiencing, therapies may be added or modified. Early detection and modification of modifiable risk factors is a key strategy for therapy in CAD. Appropriate treatment strategies are based on clinical practice guidelines, which are established based on review of available clinical evidence, have graded recommendations, and are periodically updated. The role of pharmacist in the management of CAD and dyslipidemia has become increasingly important as the primary focus of management shifts toward optimizing drugs and targeting cardiovascular risk factor goals. This chapter discusses the therapeutics of CAD and dyslipidemia, current evidence and recent advances in therapeutics, and the evolving role of pharmacists in the care of patients with CAD and dyslipidemia. 2019 Elsevier Inc.
