Overcoming Challenges of Applying the Systematic Review Mantra in Business Research
Abstract
This case study introduces the systematic literature review process and relays the process through its application in examining the topic of corporate social responsibility (CSR) implementation. Systematic reviews are more profound in scientific research and have not found as much popularity in social sciences. Thus, our experience in applying the systematic review process provides readers with a refined perspective on how one can utilize this process in studying different topics in the social sciences discipline. This case study also discusses underlying challenges that scholars faced when conducting their systematic literature review. Additionally, It sheds light on the possible mistakes scholars may make when conducting such a review and in doing so, the case highlights the common practices to take note of when carrying out a systematic literature review.
