    Abstract
Technology development has recently focused on significant improvements in the way we achieve and process information from objects and systems to make decision. The communication among these objectives and different kinds of system through internet-based protocol is termed the internet of things (IoT). The technology and its application has been growing exponentially, and IoT specifically provided support for remote and virtual information access and analysis during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most importantly, the continuity of formal and information education during the COVID-19 pandemic, which became a challenge initially, could be supported through the IoT-based system by avoiding physical proximity but concentrating on seamless knowledge delivery to the same extent as in the face-to-face situation. Therefore, in such cases and beyond, the use of IoT has become an important tool so that the education process is continued and the students continue to get the knowledge as if they are in the classroom conditions. In this chapter, a review of literature on IoT in education is provided and the benefits, and challenges of the future direction on IoT are discussed.
