الملخص | Power loss within electrical networks is a pressing global concern, especially as the world's population continues to grow. Inadequately planned projects have the potential to exacerbate power loss issues, posing a threat to the reliability of electrical grids. Surprisingly, despite the potential benefits, the application of Lean manufacturing techniques for power loss management has not been widely adopted in this context. This study seeks to bridge the gap between electrical engineering and Lean expertise, introducing a novel development framework grounded in Lean principles to mitigate power loss. Employing a mixed-method approach encompassing qualitative and quantitative methods, this research involved a questionnaire, interviews using the Delphi technique with professionals in the electrical and Lean fields, and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method used for selecting the proper type of Lean tools and techniques. Data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), with data collected from Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) and Ashghal, a road work authority, acting as the foundation for the study. The integration of Lean methodologies not only enhances power loss management but also fosters collaboration between electrical engineers and Lean experts, offering fresh perspectives on addressing this critical issue. Ultimately, this study provides valuable insights into optimizing and reducing power losses within electrical networks through Lean tool and technique application. In conclusion, this dissertation represents a comprehensive exploration of Lean methodology and tool integration to improve power loss management within electrical utility projects. Through six key objectives, the research demonstrates the significant potential of Lean techniques in improving efficiency, reducing power losses, and enhancing project outcomes. A validated development framework, guided by expert consensus, emphasizes project phase interconnectivity and underscores the potential for holistic improvements through systematic Lean implementation, particularly through feedback loop utilization. This research extends its relevance beyond the immediate context, offering valuable perspectives for the entire electrical production and services sector and paving the way for further international application. Recommendations encourage stakeholders to embrace Lean practices and raise awareness, potentially influencing legislation. Practical and strategic suggestions provide actionable insights, while opportunities for future research beckon additional studies in diverse settings. Ultimately, this research marks a significant stride toward efficient and sustainable energy management, promising a broader application and further exploration in the field. |
