AbstractIn order to improve efficiency, accuracy, and teamwork throughout the commissioning process, this thesis offers a thorough framework for the digital commissioning of facilities in the oil and gas sector. The difficulties presented by traditional commissioning methods, which can entail copious paperwork, fragmented communication, and error-prone human data handling, make such a framework necessary. These conventional methods can cause major delays in project schedules in addition to inefficiencies and higher operating expenses. This project report offers a structured digitization framework that incorporates cutting-edge digital technologies including cloud-based platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) in order to address the shortcomings of traditional approach. The framework seeks to improve decision-making procedures and regulatory compliance by automating data gathering, streamlining communication, and enabling real-time data exchange across project stakeholders. In addition to promoting cost efficiency through optimal resource utilization, the suggested digital commissioning framework is anticipated to shorten commissioning timescales, improve data accuracy, and increase regulatory compliance. The report examines how comparable digital tactics are being implemented by top industry players and evaluates their effects on operational procedures using a combination of case studies and a literature analysis. Additionally, a thorough approach comprising problem identification, requirement analysis, process mapping, technology selection, and implementation processes is used in this study as the problem analysis step. A case study of pilot testing of a Commissioning Completion Management Software (CCMS) demonstrates the framework's efficacy in enhancing commissioning procedures and offers useful insights into its implementation. By encouraging efficiency, innovation, and sustainability in the key energy sectors of Qatar, this framework not only advances the digital transformation agenda inside the oil and gas sector but also fits with Qatar's strategic objectives in National Vision 2030. The results highlight the transforming possibilities of digitization in commissioning and imply that complete implementation of this technology might greatly guide the sector towards higher operational excellence and sustainability.
