AbstractFood safety and regulation are exceedingly important topics in the Gulf countries, including Qatar. The latter is influenced by a rapid population growth and constraints to local food production caused by a harsh climate and a limited water supply. This article provides an overview of the food regulatory framework and laws, guidelines, and associated enforcement in the state of Qatar. In addition, the fundamental food safety and labelling compliance requirements in the production and sale of food in Qatar are summarized.
