    Abstract
This chapter explores various health and medication literacy assessment methods and instruments. These instruments are crucial in health communication and providing patient care. It identifies and discusses the most commonly used health and medication literacy assessment tools. These assessments help in identifying individuals with limited health literacy, allowing tailored support and resources. This is particularly crucial as health and medication literacy plays a vital role in an individual's capacity to comprehend, engage with, and manage their well-being. Limited health and medication literacy hinders comprehension of medical conditions, medications, treatment plans, and communication with healthcare providers. The chapter delves into the realm of health literacy and medication literacy assessment, examining the areas and domains of evaluation and the limitations of existing tools. Additionally, it explores the challenges posed by diverse and vulnerable populations and strategies that can enhance the effectiveness of assessments conducted in such settings and beyond. Finally, the chapter evaluates the future of health and medication literacy assessment, including potential approaches and technological advancements, while simultaneously addressing the ethical considerations inherent in such evaluations.
