    Abstract
The Dual Active Full Bridge (DAFB) is one of the promising isolated DC/DC converter topologies that will play a significant role in the future integration of Electric Vehicle (EV) into Smart Grids (SGs). This is due to its inherent soft switching, bidirectional energy transfer capability and control simplicity. Thus, this paper provides a brief overview highlighting the advantages of the DAFB compared to other existing topologies in-light of Grid-2-Vehicle (G2V) and Vehicle-2-Grid (V2G) applications. It also emphasizes the implementation and testing of a 6 kW DAFB with Typhoon Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) device. The results show that the HIL implementation validates well the theoretical and simulation results. - 2017 IEEE.
