    Abstract
This paper employs a Model Predictive Control (MPC) technique to reduce the Common-Mode-Voltage (CMV) in five-phase inverters when third harmonic current injection is applied. According to the inverter space vector model, which comprises 32 vectors, it has been proved that the long and short space vectors generate a minimum CMV magnitude, while the medium and zero space vectors generate medium and large CMV magnitude, respectively. Accordingly, in this paper, the long and short space vectors are used in the proposed controller, not only to generate multi frequency output with reduced CMV, but also to reduce the number of calculations. It has been shown that the elimination of medium and zero vectors is not critical because the control remains in a wide range of the modulation index using short and long voltage vectors. The successful performance of the proposed technique is verified using simulation and experimental results. - 2017 IEEE.
