L-L and L-2L Multilevel boost converter topologies with voltage multiplier with L-L and L-2L converter of XY familiy
Abstract
A New L-L and L-2L Multilevel Boost Converter topologies (L-LMBC and L-2LMBC) are proposed for photovoltaic (PV) energy application. Both L-LMBC and L-2LMBC topologies are designed to provide a viable and effective solution for photovoltaic energy applications that requires a high voltage conversion ratio (VO/Vin) like photovoltaic system to fed MLI (PV Multilevel Inverter System), Electrical Drives (ED), Hybrid Electric Cars (HEC) etc. L-LMBC topology is designed with connecting the Cockcroft Walton (CW) multiplier to an upper L converter of the L-L topology of XY family. Similarly L-2LMBC topology is designed with connecting the Cockcroft Walton (CW) multiplier to 2L converter of the L-2L topology of XY family. The operation of L-LMBC and L-2LMBC is discussed with mathematical expressions in details. The attractive features of proposed L-LMBC and L-2LMBC topologies are discussed in details. The L-LMBC and L-2LMBC are simulated in the Matrix Laboratory version 2012 (MATLAB-2012) and the result of simulation confirms the operation, functionality and design of the proposed converter.
