Error probability analysis of energy harvesting relay-Aided cooperative network using hierarchical modulation
Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the performance of energy harvesting relay-Aided cooperative system wherein, the source node transmits hierarchical signal to the relay and destination nodes. But, since in cooperative networks relays are often nearer to the source than the destination, the relay node is able to decode multi-resolution signal whereas, the destination is only capable of detecting the most important layer of hierarchical modulation signal. Moreover, the relay node is subject to be in lack of energy with certain probability thus, not being able to cooperate at every communication instances. This, in turn degrades the overall system performance. We concentrate on the error probability analysis of such system and derive exact and upper bound expressions for it. We also provide the optimal selection of the hierarchical constellation parameter based on the link average SNR and the relay node availability chance. We will show how the energy harvesting node could vary the system performance from conventional point-To-point system to fixed-power relay-Aided cooperative system. 2016 IEEE.
