    Abstract
This research presents a single source thirteen-level inverter with a low component count and sextuple voltage boosting capability. There are three capacitors, one power diode, and thirteen power switches in it. Since generating negative voltage levels does not require an H-bridge circuit, the voltage stress across the switches is reduced. A simple level-shifted PWM technique which is a high-frequency switching technique is used to generate the switching signals. The topology has three switched capacitors which are self-balanced and no additional algorithm or circuitry is required to balance the voltages. The topology is synthesized using a voltage tripler circuit along with a cross-connected boost cell to produce 13 levels. To demonstrate the advantages of the proposed topology, it is compared to existing topologies in terms of switches, diodes, sources, capacitors employed in quantity, and voltage-boosting capability. According to the IEEE 519-2014 standard, the total harmonic distortion (THD) is 8.2%, which is close to permissible standards. The paper presents experimental and simulation results to validate the workability of the proposed switched capacitor multilevel inverter topology for various loading conditions. 2022 IEEE.
