The effect of the problems of work and events of life reflected on all the aspects of personality. Many researchers see that we have become in the century of psychological stress and crisis, and there is conviction that it is necessary to search about the ways individuals cope (successfully) with stress during their life.
The present research aims to discover the coping processes and study its relationship with some variables of personality to know the psychological characteristics of stress resistant individuals, and whether or not there are certain psychological characteristics connected with definite cope preferations. The sample of the study concluded (190) teachers male and females from the teachers of preparatory and secondary and Alazhar institutes. They were classified into three categories according to age. The statistical analysis of their data on coping process scale by using ANOVA, Correlation coefficient and step-wise regression analysis revealed that there is a significant effect of age on cognitive coping processes directed to the problem or the stressing situation, and that the sex interacts with age upon the behavioral processes directed towards the problem too. The results gave evidence that there is a significant relation between a number of personality variables as presented in "Self-confidence. Nueriticism and Self-esteem" and coping processes. But these processes may not influence with equal efficiency in cases of difference in stressing situations or difference in the individual characteristics the sample have.
It seems that the scope of the present research needs further studies in order to know other indicators of stress resistant individuals and the range of the consistency of coping process along time. |
