Abstract | Partially premixed charge compression ignition (PPCCI) engine is a promising technique as compared with the conventional diesel engine. The present research paper shows the use of water-diesel emulsion at varying concentrations in PPCCI engine. Three concentrations of water in the water-diesel emulsion like 3%, 6% and 9% used in PPCCI engines. A four-stroke single-cylinder diesel engine modified to PPCCI engine by using intake manifold system taken for the experiments. It has been found that the water concentration enhancement leads to improvement in the brake specific fuel consumption and an increase in the brake thermal efficiency. It also reduces the CO, UHC, smoke opacity and Nox emissions from the engine. - 2019 Elsevier Ltd |
