الملخص
Background:
Emotional Intelligence (EI) has gained attention for its association with professional success and effective management, as higher EI can enhance job control, commitment, and organizational outcomes.
Objectives:
This study aims to assess EI level and awareness among Qatar University students and employees and investigate variables that may influence their EI levels.
Method:
A cross-sectional correlational study utilized the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF), to measure trait EI levels among students and employees of Qatar University. Data was collected from August to September 2022.
Results
The study gathered a total of 517 responses. Among all participants, the mean global EI level was 4.80±0.78. There was a significant difference in EI levels between age groups, with younger adults having the lowest scores of EI (p<0.001).
Conclusion
Age is significantly associated with EI, while gender is not. Older adults demonstrate higher EI levels, suggesting its development with life experiences. Enhancing awareness and improving EI skills through training programs can lead to improved communication, relationships, and overall performance.
