GREEN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE: THE MODERATING ROLE OF TECHNOLOGICAL COMPETENCE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Abstract
Increased emphasis on sustainability has propelled the adoption of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices in organizations. However, in regions like Qatar, which are undergoing rapid industrialization and economic development, research on GHRM remains limited. This study addresses this gap by investigating the relationship between GHRM practices, artificial intelligence (AI), and environmental performance within Qatar’s context. A conceptual model was proposed, and data was collected through the structured, self-administered questionnaire-based survey. Structural Equation Modelling was used to analyse data and test the hypothesized relationships among the variables. The findings of the study establish the significant role of GHRM practices in fostering environmentally sustainable practices within organizations, with technological competence and AI moderating the relationships. The findings carry substantial implications for stakeholders involved in GHRM within Qatar, emphasizing the need for further research to explore implications at both organizational and individual levels. Theoretical implications underscore the importance of considering cultural nuances and leveraging technology in GHRM practices. Practical implications suggest tailored HR practices, strategic AI integration, and the promotion of green creativity. Future research avenues include longitudinal studies, cross-cultural comparisons, and advanced AI applications in green HRM.
