    Abstract
In their manuscript entitled "Understanding Diabetic Wounds: A Review of Mechanisms, Pathophysiology, and Multimodal Management Strategies," Niharika et al. [1] discuss the multifaceted realm of diabetic wounds. Their paper, in this issue of Current Reviews in Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology, provides a foundation to help with a better understanding of diabetic wounds. These lesions, often a consequence of the unrelenting battle against diabetes mellitus, pose a significant challenge to both patients and healthcare providers. The authors highlight the role of hyperglycemic state, nerve damage, ischemia, and declined immune functions as fundamental mechanisms driving the pathophysiology of these wounds. The interaction of diverse elements becomes more complex, and hence, there is a possibility of developing chronic and recalcitrant ulcers.
